Mr. Dodson is President, CEO, and a member of the board for AirXpanders®. He has over 25 years of executive management and leadership experience in the medical device industry with Boston Scientific, Orthofix Orthopedics, and BarrX Medical. Most recently, Scott was the President and CEO of Avantis Medical Systems, where he led the company through their Series C financing and two successful bridge financings. He oversaw the securing of Medicare reimbursement; the completion and publication of the largest tandem designed, randomized trial in medical device history; and the development of a next generation imaging system for global, full-market release. Scott has a Bachelor of Science in Management from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and has completed the Executive Management Program of both Columbia University and Babson College.

Scott Murcray

Mr. Murcray has over 20 years of finance experience in various senior finance leadership and management roles with Nanometrics Incorporated, ZOLL Medical Corporation, and VNUS Medical Technologies, among others. Scott’s broad background in finance and operations includes managing finance and accounting, manufacturing operations, sales operations, customer service, IT and human resources. In addition to this, he has led numerous rounds of debt and equity financings, as well as acquisitions and related integrations. Mr. Murcray is a former audit manager of Arthur Andersen LLP. He is a CPA and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California.


Mr. Morefield has over 15 years of Medical Device and Aerospace experience with a focus on transitioning innovative technologies through late stage development into full scale manufacturing. He most recently held the position of Sr. Director of Manufacturing and Engineering at Avantis Medical Systems, where he was responsible for advancing operations during the course of clinical studies and into full commercialization and through the eventual transition to off-shore manufacturing. Prior to joining Avantis, Tony spent eight years in varying leadership roles with Align Technology in the product development and manufacturing groups and was instrumental in building Align’s unique, world-class manufacturing operation. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oregon.

Anthony Carnemolla
VP of Sales

Mr. Carnemolla has over 24 years of diverse executive management, leadership, and sales experience in the medical device industry, with companies such as Steris, Volcano, and Inamed Aesthetics (now Allergan/Pfizer), manufacturer of breast implants and tissue expanders,as well as an early stage venture based start-up Sanarus Medical, a manufacturer of cryo-therapy for breast disease. Anthony most recently served as Area Vice President of Sales and Senior Director of U.S. Sales at Invuity Corporation, a surgical photonics company from 2011 to 2015, where he led the company’s effort to build a sales organization of over 80 direct sales representatives and 40 distribution partners nation wide. He also assisted in Series D and E financing, which led to a successful initial public offering on the NASDAQ in June 2015. Anthony implemented multiple programs to brand the organization’s biggest franchise in breast and plastic surgery, the professional education program to train and certify surgeons in various approaches to oncoplastic breast surgery. Anthony has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Finance from Bryant University.

Gwen Drain
Senior Director of Human Resources

Ms. Drain joined AirXpanders, Inc. in March 2016 as the Senior Director of Human Resources. Ms. Drain brings more than 20 years of experience in human resources in the medical device industry. Before joining AirXpanders, she was the Director of Human Resources for Invuity, Inc. where she developed and managed the human resources strategy. Prior to Invuity, Ms. Drain has held senior level human resources positions with Abcam, PEAK Surgical, and Arthro Care Corporation. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Human Relations with a concentration in Human Resources Management from Golden Gate University.


Ms. Kelley has over 20 years of experience in hospital clinical, quality, and risk management and five years in clinical research, and has extensive experience in medical quality analysis. Prior to joining AirXpanders® as the Director of Clinical Affairs in 2010, she held a number of management positions, performed audits for FDA submissions, and served as the liaison to hospital lawyers for medical legal cases at John Muir Medical Center. Kathy has initiated and run clinical trial sites, both nationally and internationally in Europe and South America. She has experience in several start up medical device companies such as Zeltiq Aestheics and Revascular Therapeutics. Kathy received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Boston University.

Jennie Kim
Senior Director of Global Marketing

Ms. Kim brings more than 15 years of experience in healthcare marketing and public relations. Prior to joining AirXpanders, Jennie held a number of leadership roles in marketing and public affairs at Abbott Vascular. In her most recent role at Abbott, she led global branding and positioning efforts for Absorb, the world’s first fully bioresorbable coronary scaffold. Through a variety of roles, Jennie has gainedextensive experience in medical device marketing targeting both healthcare professionals and consumers. Jennie first began her career in women’s reproductive health and worked extensively with patient advocacy groups. Jennie received her Masters of Health Sciences degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Pomona College in Claremont, CA.


Mr. Payne has extensive leadership experience in research and development with a focus on the execution of early stage technologies. He has held positions as a Research Engineer/Scientist for Cytyc Surgical Products and Manager of Mechanical Systems Design and Drafting for United Technologies, where he and his teams worked on and delivered multiple projects for the aerospace industry. Mark has successfully submitted seven patent disclosures and has published several peer-reviewed publications. Mr. Payne received his Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from University of Michigan and Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University.
